Global Sources will not ask you to download any software that you may already have installed in your computer. Once you have an account with any of the supported applications, all you need to do is sign in to your applications that are installed in your computer and then go to the Global Sources website. If you don't have any of the required applications installed, you will need to download at least one of the service provider's application (free) from their website. Select from the list of service provider's below. MSN/Windows/Live Messenger: http://messenger.live.com
Once installed, sign in to the application/s and then go to Global Sources website. How does online chat work?Global Sources has introduced online chat links across our website where you can initiate a chat session with any supplier you may want to communicate with. You will see these strategically positioned links when you search for products and suppliers, or read product and supplier information. Do you archive messages between buyers and suppliers? No. We take your privacy seriously at Global Sources. Details of your correspondence will not be available to us. Our online chat service is your personal bridge to finding the right supplier at the right time. Troubleshooting
Why do I get an error message when I click on "Add to contact" or "Send message" links?
You may also be using Netscape, Firefox or other browsers. Currently, MSN functions only work when you have logged on from Internet Explorer (MSIE). Also, web-based instant messaging applications are not compatible with our system. Why is the supplier not responding to my message? The supplier must approve your profile before you can successfully correspond via online chat. This is not controlled by Global Sources and relies on the approval process for each supported instant messaging client. To speed up approvals from our suppliers, please indicate that you found their chat link on the Global Sources website. Also, bear in mind the difference in time zones between you and the supplier you want to chat with. You can also check the time by using Time Zone Converter. Alternatively, you can send an inquiry to the supplier, informing them that you would like to chat using any of our support instant messaging applications. The supplier has an MSN account and I have Yahoo, can we chat even if we use different instant messaging applications?Yes, if you are using the latest version of Yahoo! Messenger and you have the supplier’s MSN e-mail address. To contact a supplier who has an MSN account, please follow the instructions on Yahoo to add the supplier to your contact list. Once the supplier accepts your request, you can start chatting with him. Why can't I hear the supplier when I start a video or voice call? We currently support voice chat on Skype and text chat on all the instant messaging clients. However, if your instant messaging application has any of the newer features, you will have to initiate either voice or video calls from your application. For any voice chat or calls, you will also need a headset or speaker and microphone. If you are having trouble using our online chat service, you may contact our Customer Service representatives. We appreciate your feedback and help in improving our products and services.
