Hong Kong's new electronics & components event concludes with strong buyer turnout

There was no let up on the final day of the China Sourcing Fair as buyers arrived at the AsiaWorld-Expo venue looking for new suppliers of electronics and components. Buyers were eager to complete negotiations before the close of the event.
"It is a very good show," said John A. Balkonis, the Director of Supply Chain Management and Materials for Food Automation Service Techniques Inc. "I was able to meet a lot of suppliers with a wide range of products related to my business."
This was a common sentiment from buyers who left the show clearly impressed with the wide range of products on display. The Fair featured more than 1,700 booths of the hottest electronics products on the market today — from consumer electronics to electronic components and power supplies. There were more than 500 booths for electronic components alone, making the components pavilion the biggest at any trade show this spring in Asia.
These products were supplemented by a large number of exhibitors displaying telecom, security, digital imaging, in-car electronics, and computer and networking products.
"This is the first time I have attended a China Sourcing Fair," said Ahmed Badda, general manager of Alirchad Computers in Morocco. "I find the show interesting because there are a wide variety of products exhibited here. I'm specifically looking for MP3 and MP4 players — and I've found numerous suppliers here," he said.
"In Morocco, the electronics industry is rapidly undergoing a democratization process. So there are plenty of opportunities for marketing such products," he noted.
Buyers were treated to a full range of free services at the show, including a series of sourcing forums covering such topics as the outlook for LCD monitors and TVs and "made in China" alternatives to the iPod. Conference sessions enlightened buyers on subjects like the RoHS countdown, protocol compliance for ITE and AV products and IP protection.
Exhibitors were well satisfied with the switch from Shanghai to Hong Kong for the 2006 China Sourcing Fairs. "I am happy with how things are going at the fair, said Tony Hu, the marketing manager of wireless network applications solutions provider, APM Co. Ltd. "Our booth is in a good location, and we have been meeting a lot of clients. We have already reserved two booths for the next China Sourcing Fair. We expect to do business with a lot of new buyers from this show."
"Most of the clients that we have been meeting since day one are looking for good quality products. We may belong to a traditional industry, that of two-way radios, but it is refreshing to see different product lines and new innovations. New ideas are good for product development," noted Hugo Yang, general manager of Abell Electronics Inc. from Shenzhen, China.
The next China Sourcing Fair will run October 11 to 14. It will again be held at AsiaWorld-Expo, the new exhibition venue right next to the Hong Kong airport.
